Special Leather balls to make these mallet. It does the job of hitting the face of the bat repeatedly for several hours. Also helps Testing the willow.
During the knocking-in process, you press a fingernail into the front face of the bat to check if the bat is marks are appearing.
If an indentations appears, it shows that the wood is still not ready yet, and should be knocked in for longer.
